We took a LOT of 35mm, and as we never did anything like kiddie that we worried about being illegal, I would just take the rolls of film to convenient developers, many rolls to a Photomat in a parking lot, and after that closed to whatever grocery was handy, Safeway, Kroger etc who all had drop boxes and would turn your film into prints in 24 to 36 hours. I just never worried about it, and probably got thousands of prints back.
We liked to share what we had taken, so always got double prints, and early realized that glossy prints could give an interesting result - really good sets would come back with a lot of fingerprints on the better photos. Guys were obviously taking them somewhere to look at, away from the work area where they would be wearing gloves. Often we would get not just double prints but triple of the less interesting shots, but only doubles of the hottest ones. Not only where guys looking through them but keeping some for themselves. I'd not be surprised if they sometimes printed triples or more and kept all but the doubles that we got back. We found the whole circus to be pretty exciting, and always eagerly examined what we got back for evidence of the photo folks having their own fun! |

This makes me wonder that all stories are about nude girlfriends. I would have enjoyed having nude pics of me being processed by young ladies and picking them up myself

You're a horny teenager, you have to sit in this hot booth in a grocery store parking lot, there are dozens of envelopes of pictures, they are not sealed. Yes, I guarantee I looked at every pic that went out of there. Mrs. Benning, you were my favorite.

I sure hope not. My dad had two giant scrapbook binders completely filled with lingerie and soft nude pics of my mom in the 1990s that my parents had in their closet. I've always wondered the answer this question.
My sister told me she asked my mom about it about 10 years ago. And my mom basically said they had no idea in the 90s the internet would become what it did so they didn't worry about who saw or had copies of those photos - but said she wouldn't do it again knowing what she knows now. |

I suppose there aren’t many photo processing labs these days. However, I have a modern variation. I decided to have a pack of playing cards made with the high value cards being pictures from my hidden folder. 10’s and Queens are of her, Jacks and Kings are of me, and Aces are both of us. On the back is the attached photo.
I chose a lab on the internet which happens to be about fifteen miles up the road from us, loaded up the images and sat back to see what happened. Now, the software could and should have done it all itself, and for the relatively low price of the transaction, very limited customer support could be justified. But there followed a quite long conversation in which the nature of the images wasn’t discussed but the guy at the other end was very keen to make sure I was happy with the product. I thought it was rather funny. |

I used to help run a mini-lab in the back of a photo store and yes, we looked at all the photos we processed, for quality control if nothing else. But I also used to man the till at times and I recall one particularly attractive female teacher who used to come into the shop regularly. One summer, she went on holiday to somewhere hot and came back with a roll of film for us to process that included a photo of her topless on a beach. I never looked at her the same way again!

i hadn't thought about this in years but when i was in art school a guy i was dating, a fellow student, brought some tempera paints and brushes to my dorm room and painted a dress on me, on my nude body. that was fun. then he suggested we go outside and he would photograph me on his nikon fa as if i were posing for fashion pictures. that was an instant turn-on. we went out on the lawn and the walkways and he photographed me wearing nothing but paint, though it was so realistic and detailed that if you were more then 20 feet away you'd swear it was a real dress. but up close you could see my bush, my nipples, my ass crack. people were walking by but probably thought it was some student's actual fashion design project.
i loved it. everything was film then, so he shot 2 36 exposure rolls and later took them to a lab for processing. i'm sure the photo lab workers saw them but i don't know if they looked closely enough to see that i was actually nude. i kind of hope that they did! emily |
