Probably the same line of thinking that says a hairless body is faster. When dealing with time, every edge and every fraction of a second saved is important. For our purposes though, thin suits are important for their visually arrousing qualities. Enjoy.

well those suits are for water-polo,
swimmers that compete on time have much thicker suits.

Water-polo ones seem to be just simple almost see though cloth,

I replied without looking at the post in question. I just assumed the swimsuits referred to were on swimmers. See what happens when one assumes? I don't have a ready answer why water polo suits are so thin...except that those women probably need something that really "breathes" since they are working so hard for a much longer time period than a racer. Like I said, whatever the reason, it's all good for us sports voyeurs.
