OK, the location I believe is Southern France, and you are looking at a Rugby match involving a team from New Zealand. So its no chump Rugby league (too international). Anyway, we have the French to thank for this. Perhaps attendance has been down lately at local Rugby matches, and they wanted to "get it up". Indeed, i believe this may be the cure..

This may help solve a mystery.

A few months ago over at Flickr, I submitted the photo below to a group called "PNW naked exuberance". The photo was taken in Seattle, but that was about all I knew about it. Anyway, the admin wrote back and asked if this was from the "Harvey shoot on Pike St." I had to admit I had no idea and I didn't know who "Harvey" was either. But now, I have a pic to compare the one below to. Admittedly, one cannot say for certain if the two are from the same event, but there is some similarity in hairstyle regarding one of the women. So - but you have to wonder - how many "Lady Godiva" events in Seattle have there ever been? It is still an ongoing mystery, I guess, but now there is a new piece to the puzzle. Thanks, Crispus -

I know a bit about rugby and I did a little additional research so let me help explain what's going on:

The reason for the confusion over the nations involved: As someone else stated the game involves two professional teams from France. It's being reported in the New Zealand press because famous NZ rugger Dan Carter (he played #10, the equivalent of say the American quarterback, for the NZ national team for years) plays professionally for Perpignan. New Zealand is the rugby capital of the world but there's a lot of big money playing in Europe, so you can find a lot of Kiwis playing rugby in Europe and around the world for that matter.

The reason for the nudity: In this match, the home team is Stade Francais, who is apparently known for staging some elaborate stunts to liven up the action. In this case they celebrated the match against Perpignan by making it into a Roman coliseum-themed event. You'll notice there are guys in togas. They even had a tiger run out the game ball (I wonder how much the insurance went up for that match?). The topless girls may or may not be part of the regular cheerleading squad, but they're only topless on this particular occasion because their body-paint and semi-naked attire is a sexed-up french-up version of Roman garb. Hopefully we'll see something like this again, but it's not an every week occurence.

'Harvey" is Harvey Drouillard from Ann Arbor, MI. He has a reputation of doing 'flash and dash' nude photo shoots in public places, usually on public sidewalks. His models wear robes, and on his command remove them and proceed to walk around, pretending to be casually walking around in the nude in very public places. He takes the photos and signals the models who then quickly cover up. the whole process takes just a few seconds.
