I just wondered - anyone ever had any insight as to how the 'legends' of beach voyeur do/did it?
I mean the guys who have been abou tas long as the web, or I can remember - like the Sandfly off voyeurweb (now got his own site I think). Seems like thye've been getting away with it for deades (well, at least since mid-nineties!) Is it equipment, d'you think? Or successful practiced technique? Lov eto be a fly on the wall on a beach with them for a day. |

I agree with the above. I generally only shoot events where there is no expectation of privacy. But add alcohol and any thing can happen. At Mardi Gras there are many, many photographers, but a much smaller number with high end cameras, and they often group together. If I get the belligerent boyfriend or girlfriend I usually move to a different spot. If asked directly I'll delete the photo in their presence (it's easy to undelete later, though I never use those).
Once I was set to delete the photos but the woman wasn't having it anyway. I simply turned to the police that were standing by the wall, and they basically told her that I didn't have to delete the photo and I was being reasonable by doing so. Situation diffused. Since I run a website I can be contacted. One of the most humorous ones was in the early days where an indignant woman informed me that I had broken into her house and stolen the photo I had posted. I assured her that I had taken it and had the original to back it up, but that I would delete it. I never heard back. I only get a request about once a year on a photo, and it's 50/50 wanting it down or do I have any more that I can post. I had an email this week asking where the best spot would be to be certain that her boobies would appear online (answer, in front of the Four Points Sheraton) Last year I had a woman contact me asking about her photos saying that she was a little drunk, had never flashed before and she on my website. She was, and I told her that and offered to take them down. She never responded and they are still there. I'll be at Folsom Street on Sunday. Generally I approach the person and ask if I can take their picture. About 80% of the time the answer is yes and having them look at the camera with a smile makes a better photo. If they ask what I'm doing with them I state I have a public nudity website and that I'll give them access. Particulary at Folsom they sometimes ask if I'm posting on FetLife. |
