My children and I have this discussion all the time, do not try to give your kids what you did not have growing up, give them what you had only do it better.

Give them love, security, and rules. Figure out which ones are OK to break, so they think they are smarter than you, and enforce the ones that are not. Now as a Grandpa, that is different. But even then, we do not allow shows ment for mature audiences to be watched by the younger kids.
