On a similar theme, ladies being ducked or dunked on the ducking stool can be cool, too.
Alnwick in England has an annual fair, until it ended last year (no fair last year) in which they had a ducking stool and deep tank of cold water. Nominally "victims" were selected from the audience- usually women in costume- but generally, especially, later years, these were more often asked/persuaded people from the crowd who were given a costume to wear.
