I'll expand on this one too, if I may. A couple reasons I dig this, really. One is simply fascination with the plumbing I don't have. When a male urinates, it's boring. It's going in one direction, and nobody cares. When a female urinates, there's no telling where it's going to go! It's literally a work of art. Granted, one could say that defecation is also a work of art using that argument, but both sexes can make that and it looks the same both ways. So the whole "fascination" thing is right out the window. And rightfully so.
Another reason, that sivrag kinda touched on, is the whole taboo thing. It's evident in our society. Say you've got a van full of people on a road trip out in the middle of nowhere, and they pull over for a much-needed pit stop. What will the guys do?
Stand right next to the van, merely turning their backs to traffic, and let 'er go. Now what do the girls do? Traipse up the hill for two miles, deep in the woods, and then, when they're almost to where they need Search & Rescue to get back, they
SQUAT DOWN to do their business, usually with one of them playing scarecrow. As far away as they are from anything remotely resembling civilization, wtf is the point of squatting down other than to contain the splashing?
To piggyback on that, think about those fountains with the little cherub in the middle peeing into it. Ever notice it's always a boy? When's the last time you saw a fountain with a little girl peeing into it? Yup, never. They don't exist. As far as our society goes, girls don't pee.
Plainly put, to go by society's views on the subject, the idea of girls peeing is like baby pigeons & Bigfoot: you're sure it exists, but damned if you've ever actually seen it happen. So in much the same way that making alcohol 21+ inadvertently glorifies it and makes kids want it more, by keeping female urination out of public view, it makes some of us want it more.
