Ordinary Naked People

Harvey Drouillard is a photographer that travels across cities photographing naked people at their landmarks. No professional nude models here, all the people in his pictures are volunteers. He’s been doing this since the 90’s with apparently thousands of pictures taken, but I haven’t found too many. Have they been lost to time?

There exist several events that use nudity for a variety of reasons. It could be for a good cause, such as the charity Streak For Tigers run. Or a means of protest like the World Naked Bike Ride. Sometimes it’s just for the fun of being naked, such as Rosklide, Bay To Breakers, and Nakukymppi. (Bay To Breakers is my favorite example, nudity isn’t mandatory but it is allowed. This means some women choose to show up naked!)

Events like these are open to the public, meaning the participants are regular people you’d pass by the street. Some people disguise themselves using masks and accessories since they don’t want to be recognized outside of the event. Hats off to those brave enough to show everything off with a smile!

Trilogy was a feminist show that aimed to celebrate women’s bodies by having them dance naked onstage. The ads specified that the performers would be local women. Talk about an opportunity! I heard they would also invite women from the audience to get naked onstage and sing and the end of their shows too.

Peter Checksfield is an author that had a hobby of photographing naked models in both Thanet and Margate. All of his models were local women of the area. What’s more amazing than the fact the women in his pictures were just completely normal people is that they actually all agreed to do his photo shoots for free! Must’ve been a charismatic guy.

Tragically, it seems he’s retired the whole thing. His website and blogs with the pictures are all gone and his photo collection books can’t be purchased from his Amazon page. All that’s left is a small gallery I found on Pictoa and others that got posted here. Maybe you can still buy them from him directly since Peter showed up here and made a profile to interact with people in this thread: https://forum.oneclickchicks.com/showthread.php?t=94268
His last post was him advertising his collection books and mentions it can also be bought by messaging him through email.

How To Look Good Naked was a show in the UK that helped regular women who were insecure about their bodies by, well, getting them naked! Part of the process involved naked photo shoots (sometimes done live with a crowd to cheer them on) and a catwalk fashion show for the grand finale.

The women would get naked after they’ve finished their catwalk, showing their bare backsides before retreating backstage. Although there are cameras offering us a view from the front. I’ve seen a video online somewhere that I’m sure is from this show where women turn around and strut the catwalk naked instead of going backstage. Can’t find it anywhere, I’d appreciate it if someone did.

Was annoyed last year when I found out I'd missed out on the two photo books.

As it turns out that naked catwalk video I saw wasn’t from How To Look Good Naked but from another UK show with the exact same premise simply called Naked. Specifically episode 2 from season 1 titled Estate Agents. 5 estate agents participate in exercises meant to help with their body image and self esteem.

Unlike How To Look Good Naked however, the only nudity in this show is from the catwalk at the end. They all walk nearly naked, wearing only a robe or shirt and then take it off to show off their bare backsides before going backstage. After they all strut the catwalk individually they return as a group and get completely naked. I don’t know if this is what they have all the women in the show do or if the group was feeling bold. I’m not sure why these women felt insecure about their bodies. They all look great!

Something worth noting is apparently the audience for the catwalk in both of these shows has their friends and family present. Imagine that: you get a phone call and someone says your mom or sister or daughter is going to be naked on TV and want you to be there for it.

Naked States is a documentary about Spencer Tunick’s journey across America with the goal of photographing naked people in all 50 states. He’s known for his mobs of nudity but he takes a lot of pictures of single people in this film. For some of volunteers they include thier name and an interview about how they feel about the photo shoot. It really highlights that all his models are just regular people. Most of the time Spencer simply approaches people in public and asks if they want to post naked. And that works!

Take these volunteers for example:
Tanysha was asked to pose naked as she passed Spencer on the street. Same goes for the unnamed woman with her.
Fraya and David were a couple. Fraya was also pregnant at the time of her photo shoot.
Molly was approached by Spencer at a book store.
Toby was approached by Spencer at her job.
Teri was asked to pose naked over lunch at a local restaurant.
Mary was asked at a biker rally. She was very enthusiastic about it, describing herself as “an exhibitionist from hell.”
Deborah agreed to do a photo shoot to face insecurities about her body.

The film includes many more cuts of photo shoots done across the states excluding names and interviews with models, I assume because they wanted to remain anonymous. I appreciate those that gave their nudity a name. Check it out here:

There’s a watermark on these images, however nothing comes up when I search 24 video and it doesn’t match the website it was posted on. I hope this post is made an exception of the rules since this is a very nice find I’d like added to this thread.

Third photo in the left hand column is the old pier in St Petersburg. The women have shadows. I don't see any for the light poles.
