I've always heard that if the woman knowingly and willingly posed for pics and/or agreed to be video-taped and did not ask for the pics or vid back or did not specifically mandate that no one else see them or that they be destroyed, they were yours to do with as you pleased. Can anyone confirm that?

I believe the law is that as long as your not gaining monetary ($$) compensations from the pictures she has no legal standing. Think of all the pictures of ex wives and girlfriends on the internet and those girls know who put them up there. I think your safe unless she can find a friend to knock you around a bit!
