One of mine that could have been great.
This was back in the early 70s. My wife and I were visiting some friends up in Vancouver, BC. We were all hippies, and he had gone up to dodge the draft. He was living with the ex-wife of another friend of ours. Her young son from her first marriage was also living with them. She was drop dead gorgeous. Long dark hair, and a figure to die for. It was a 2 bedroom place, so sleeping accommodations had to be arranged. Sort of out of the blue, soon after we arrived, he says "We don't want to disturb the kid, so why don't we all sleep in the other bedroom?" I was caught off guard, and hesitated before saying "Sure, if that's what you want." He being a really sensitive kind of guy, interpreted my hesitation as really being a negative, backed off, and said, "That's OK, we'll just be quiet". I said, "No, no, it'll be fine", but he wouldn't believe me. So we slept in separate rooms, and never had the great foursome that would have certainly happened. Always regretted that one.... DR |

Heh. I drew a decent number in the draft lottery, so I didn't have to decide between going for conscientious objector status or going to Canada. But at the time, the only parts of Canada I'd seen had been The Frozen North; if I'd known how cool Vancouver was I might have been happier about that option:-) |
