This is relatively cheap compared to the real-life events you guys have shared but webcam usage peaked for me and my circle of friends between the years of 2003 to 2007. Basically coming to an end with the introduction of the smartphone, which gave us better cameras and easier use for taking pics. Also, this was during the time that many of my friends were either still living at home with their parents and/or were transitioning into adult life (basically ages 18-23ish), so that explains why so many parents and grandparents got seen in the process.

At this time, there were numerous instances of mothers, grandmothers, and other relatives accidentally walking into frames and either not noticing the webcam being on or even knowing it was there. At our other house we had 2 younger females living in the house next to ours, but being in the corner of the block made it better for having the houses closer on an angle next to each other!

While in college I worked as a 'community service officer'. There is a short hallway with a bathroom on the left and a counter with a sink, fridge, microwave... on the right. On the other end of the hall is the bedroom.

Anyway, I was about a foot in the door and was about to close it when this 40ish lady came out of the bathroom wearing only a towel on her head presumably just having showered. She saw me and kind of froze as did I for what seemed like several seconds but was probably only a fraction of a second. Then she let out kind of yell I guess you could call it, put her hands over her tits and ran back into the bathroom. I moved about the same time and retreated out the door calling out some kind of apology as I closed the door.

It was brief but I have the image seared into my mind to this day. I can close my eyes and replay it from the time she came into view to when she went out of view. It is situational awareness that comes from being a firefighter and arson investigator (we don't have a dedicated arson investigator so I somehow ended up being the guy that takes point on investigations and works with the sheriff's department). I am that guy that never sits with his back to the door, can give a general description of everyone that has come in at the end of the meal, and stuff like that. In this situation, it was a combination of this and probably a chronostasis type phenomenon. This is where you get an adrenaline boost, blood vessels constrict, your brain goes into hyperdrive, and time seems to slow. This happens a lot in dangerous situations. For example, I was in a burning building last week and part of a ceiling collapsed and wires that came down caught on my and my partner's SCBAs and entangled me. The rest was coming down very soon and I knew my partner and I knew we had to get out of there. There was no time for someone to get to us. Time seemed to stand still. The heat was intense and I was scrambling to bet my knife out and cut the wires off of us. I clearly remember the flames rolling out of the attic and down the wall. I oddly noticed nails that dropped and were glowing. Everything seemed as if it was in a slow motion movie scene.
