retro NAP - a few to start

For anybody else who might be smitten with this thread -as I certainly am- our colleague Marlboro has posted a few video clips from a retro NAP down in the video section. A direct link:

Two contests, actually: one from Naked City (I think) where a bunch of nudist ladies take part in "Ms. Nude California" which includes a question and answer section. It's kinda cute.

The other clip set is from NAP -looks like late 70's, early 80's maybe. Starts with the intro portion, where the host introduces each lady. Based on this pic thread, I was surprised that an overwhelming majority of the girls are dancers - one is introduced as a "dental assistant" and one as a "secretary;" the rest all have club affiliations. But even the strippers just carry a different vibe than "entertainers" do today. Much sweeter, much cuter, much more real.

Crap. Now I'm all nostalgic for the old days. Again!

So sorry I hadn't replied earlier, I had no idea this thread was still alive and you had been posting your updates. I happen to find the thread revived while doing a search on my phone.

As a Resident of Indiana most of my life, minus 4 years in Virginia, and a huge fan of Nudes-A-Poppin I've always thought and hoped I'd see someone I knew or know. Even myself in the later years. But so far no luck. ( Have had to blow up and enhance a couple of shots and take second or third looks at a few pics though.)

Good reason to ask you all to continue your restoration efforts. I know it's not easy, but much appreciated by most of us even if we don't' say thanks very often.

My memory is failing as I age in years, but yeah Naked City's pageants did pre-date NAP, but not all of them. Some did happen during the same years. Naked City was also located in Roselawn. It moved out west in the mid 80's. (I'll take your word it was 86.)

I know Ponderosa opened in 1965, don't know when they held the first NAP, but once they started they haven't stopped them. Naked City and Ponderosa weren't the only clubs that held such events either, those magazines I mentioned in a earlier post had beauty pageant pictures in them also. I've saw scans of some of these years ago back in the newsgroups. Most of those pictures couldn't be posted here anyway. (age)

I've always tried to "place" each picture I've seen or collected myself. Later NAP pics are easy, the red and black contestant garters. Naked City used ballons for awhile. The pool at Ponderosa is rectangular, Naked City has a round "clubhouse," T-shaped Pool, heart shaped man made lake, and of course the Lady leg sundial if that helps you.

Naked City is now called Sun Aura Resort BTW.

I have not heard about Dick Drost in years, last i knew he had a resort in Hemet California, in the high desert called NCLA, and i heard his health was not good, not sure if he is still alive, just curious

Dick Drost closed NCLA in Hemet probably at least 10 years ago. He moved to Palm Springs, he had a small naked city operation in his back yard, but I think he does not even do that. He was in a wheel chair the last time I saw him at NCLA, again, at least 10 years ago. NCLA was freaky.

It's too bad that Ponderosa doesn't have two different events anymore. From what I read in this thread so far there is no question that NAP is the premier nude beauty pageant in the midwest. I really want to bring my friend to this before he gets married but July 18th, 2009 conflicts with his family reunion. Don't suppose anybody knows a second rate ( or close to first rate preferably) similar event within a few hours of Chicago?

What a wonderful thread! Does anybody have more of this girl? I shot it with a Canon AE-1 back in 81' or 82'. I have a few more of her. I only went 1 year to Naked City/Dick Drost's place. The sight of some of those people with .357's & .44's freaked me out. When I lived in Indy, I came up in the 90's and video-taped about 5 events @ Ponderosa, which was far more superior to what I saw @ Naked City. I have some decent 35mm images from Ponderosa also, but it was a dark day & some are under exposed. I will try & learn how to take the video, which is now on DVD's and turn them in to WMV's. It was fun to go back to the strip clubs in Indy after Ponderosa & tell the babes how they looked up @ Ponderosa - all in the buff & how you like the color of her pubes. More later!

This was another 1 of this young beauty. Compared to the others that participated, she had no competition. I saw other images from Ponderosa circa this time where Hyapatia Lee finished 1st & this 1 was clearly the beauty of the day @ Ponderosa. Any fills?
