Did anyone go to see After Miss Julie at Park Theatre yet? The content warnings no longer contain nudity. Though, they also state: "Our content warnings are updated as a production evolves through rehearsals and previews, so please note they may change between booking a ticket and seeing the production." So, I'm wondering if they dropped the nude scene? Having seen a previous production it's brief and not essential. Could equally be performed in lingerie. From seeing the original staging of Hitchcock Blonde with Rosamund Pike there's no way to do the story without substantial full nudity (in one scene), however. Though, recent productions of Equus seem to go either way with the female lead. |

I've seen a couple of versions of Hitchcock Blonde in addition to the Rosamund Pike original. One was a student production in Birmingham that managed to introduce an extra nude scene for the film student character who in the West End production simply went briefly topless. Totally gratuitous and actually undermined the impact of an important later scene. But I enjoyed it because the venue was a tiny space with a capacity of maybe 100 and no raised stage, basically just a large room. So I saw a girl of 19 or so strip off completely and walk past me from about 10 feet away. I heard some of the other students in the audience remark that the naked girl's mother was a couple of rows behind me. Hopefully she'd been warned of the scene in advance.
The next one I saw was an amateur one in Leamington Spa, the nudity was about as limited as was possible for the play. Edited to answer Ford Prefect's question. The Hitchcock character is considering the 'blonde' for his film, and persuades her to 'disrobe' as he puts it for one scene. Total nudity in the West End production, whether or not she's a natural blonde is actually relevant to the plot. There is another woman in the cast, a young film student researching Hitchcock. Played by Fiona Glascott in the West End, and she doesn't really need to take much off, in the West End she took her top off and there was a vaguely glimpsed shower scene. Do you remember what her body looked like? Especially the public hair situation?

The actress playing the film student had a figure like Kate Winslet or a touch heavier. Little pubic hair visible. I can't remember what the one playing the blonde looked like

My apologies for the lack of clarity. I meant Rosamund Pike.

Sorry, I conflated two questions. Medium sized and not at all droopy breasts, dark pubic hair trimmed to a well defined triangle. She was early 20s at the time. |
