I think both of these conditions were met with your wife. It seems she was comfortable and felt safe with the couple even the husband. In addition, no one could blame her for wanting to keep a close eye on her baby, even if it meant the curtain would be partially open while she was changing.

When I was in grad school, we lived in an area that had primarily duplexes. Our neighbor to the south only had a 5' wooden fence separating his property from ours.
