Gypsy is on at The Mill at Sonning. - starting in a couple of weeks and starring Evelyn Hoskins who was in Mrs Henderson Presents in Canada a few years ago. There may be some nudity from Evelyn who plays Gypsy Rose Lee…

Can a woman be both body and brain? Victoria Bateman has confronted these questions with actions as well as words. She has appeared naked on national television, on stage, in art and at protests - using her body, as well as her brain, to deliver her message. In Naked Feminism, Bateman makes a compelling case for women's bodily freedom, and explains why the current puritanical revival is so dangerous for women. Illustrating the swinging pendulum of bodily modesty through the ages, she takes us on a journey from the ancient civilisations of Egypt and Babylon, through the birth of Christianity and Islam, to the lax morals of the medieval period and the bawdiness of Chaucer and Shakespeare; to the clampdowns of the Puritans and later the Victorians and, more recently, to the re-veiling of the Middle East and the purity pledges of modern-day America. She ends with a plea: feminists must unite to challenge the repression of the female body, as only then can women be truly free. The Author Victoria Bateman has taught at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, where she is a Fellow in Economics. She is the resident Economic Historian on BBC Radio 4’s Understand: The Economy, and is perhaps most (in)famous for her naked protests and appearances, including on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme and at the Royal Economic Society annual conference. Victoria is a champion of women’s bodily freedom and, in her own words, her new book – Naked Feminism: Breaking the Cult of Female Modesty – represents “the combined force of body and brain,challenging the very thing that restricts women’s freedom across the world: the cult of female modesty. The theater where I saw "Equus" back in 2017 is currently mounting a production of "Hair" with nudity:
skokietheatre.org/hair.html Shows are every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through July 30. It's a fairly small, intimate theater, so views may be good if they don't dim the lights too low. Edinburgh Fringe 2023
A few quick recommends from what Ive seen so far that has a nudity warning:
*Lucy & Friends. Covered topless. Full frontal legs wide apart nudity & pissing. Also very good show *(Hong Kong Girls). 3 dancers. 1st girl nude (very good) for whole 20 minutes. The other 2 remain fully clothed & not so good. *Spectacle of herself. New show from Contra star Laura Murphy. Topless from 20 min in & fully nude at the end. Excellent show. *Andronicus Synedoche. 4 girls topless in one scene. Clear views but all too brief! Challenging musical based on the Shakespeare play. Avoid: *Chicken. No nudity & weird *Alice Cockayne. Enjoyable show but no nudity *Fish Bowl. No nudity. Well done piece about dementia. I can also recommend Trash Salad which I saw earlier this year. Seeing more over next week so will update further later
