Having an issue going "back"

On other forums I don't seem to have this problem. Only here. So here goes.
I click on a thread, any thread, and scroll down the page. Hmmmm. Here's a pic I like. Let me click on it and open it full size. We're all good so far. Maybe I even save the pic - maybe I don't. But when I click the "BACK" button it takes me back to the top of the previous page. Not to the post I just clicked on, but the top of the page where the post is. Needless to say it's quite frustrating to have to scroll back down 1/2 or 3/4 of a page to get back to where I was.
If it matters I'm using Firefox 59. But like I said, I don't have this problem in other forums. In those it takes me back to the post where I was. Because this is the only forum in which I have this problem it seems as though perhaps its more related to the site rather than my browser.
Comments? Suggestions?

you can always right click the pic you want to see and open in a new tab, not ideal i know but it works for me
