Klondike, in addition to lamenting the fading of the continental European rides in recent years, you've mentioned in past posts how the New York City ride has never seemed to gain traction.

Well, NYC, a city of more than eight-million people, had its 2015 ride last Saturday too, and fewer than two dozen riders showed up, and as far as I can tell only two of them were women. One thing I am sure of is that photographers, or crowds with smart phones, can't be blamed for scaring off potential riders. Nobody, but the assigned police, and a few passersby on the streets ever seem to pay any attention. Last year a couple of male riders were arrested for doing a "dickie dance" at a busy intersection in the Greenwich Village area, The police were probably more concerned with the disruption of traffic, and the potential for causing an accident than any actual public nudity violations.

One news report claims that, last Saturday, nobody rode fully nude. It should be remembered that in NYC women can legally go fully topless anytime they want, and it appears that this year's two female riders did. Otherwise, the ride was a big dud.

At the other end of New York State, they did have a ride Saturday in Buffalo too, and unlike the NYC ride, it got plenty of local pre-ride publicity. But, as to actual ride coverage, only the local cable news channel appeared to have any, and watching the video clip, while it had a bigger turnout than NYC, it also appeared to be an almost exclusively male affair with only a few females visible in the clip.

Also, NYC is known for being one of the least friendly cities in the US and Europe for bikers in general. If you are not comfortable riding around fully clothed, you won't be comfortable doing it naked either.

So, how was San Diego's ride this year? They and LA have been improving in recent years, but if this pic that I pulled off of the San Diego's WNBR Facebook page is any indication, numbers were low. Maybe more rode than in the photo. I hope so..

This blonde girl posing above with the almost upstanding guy is called Keri Graham. She was a contestant on Britain's Got Talent a couple of years back (google her name...). I had no idea who she was but I have never seen a girl love the cameras more at a WNBR event. She was more than happy to pose with assorted people. I uploaded few of her as she went by at various points but didn't bother seeking her out at any of the stops.

I saw her posing for some jazz mag-type shots on the other side of the fountain when I was at Old Steine snapping dancers. She certainly wasn't shy and seemed to relish the attention she got from the pervs.

The number of women riding in Brighton was way up this time, even with the fact that many regular faces were missing.

As for London, there are five other starts besides Hyde Park. I've heard Regents Park is the best one - a good number of participants but not overrun with the iPhone warriors. I shouldn't have covered the start at all - it's always crap. I was going to do Piccadilly and The Mall. Then I was going to do Waterloo Bridge and Lincoln's Inn Fields. But I scrapped these plans because of the absolutely horrific traffic - vehicle and pedestrian - all round central London, largely due to Trooping the Colour.

I am sure there are plenty of other ways but one fool proof way is to use the developer tools in any browser and that should do the trick, I used Firefox in this instance (make sure that the tools are switched on in the browser, in some browsers they are not by default).

Basically, the developer let the page developer do all the analysis of what is going on in the background of webpages so that any problems can be identified. Therefore it has to show all images that load and the browser have to know exactly where on the server an image resides (some setups can obscure the exact location by adding a long string of random characters to the filename, which will only be valid for a limited time). Therefore the browser will know a valid name when downloading it.

You can open these tools by right clicking on a page and selecting "Inspect Element". (There are other ways of opening it). The tools will usually display to the right or at the bottom of the page but there are buttons you can click so that it is in a separate window. Something similar like the first attached image will appear.

Select the "Network Tab" at the top, which will show all the traffic that is going on.

For this page, you will have to click the button to show the full window view, click on the play button and as the different images in the slideshow appears, it will create a list of their details, as in image 2 and 3 (Selecting "Images" (instead of "All") in the bottom will filter which files are displayed to images only). Therefore you can wait for the slideshow to complete before doing anything else and close the Full Window View. This view will also show the size of the images so that you can ignore irrelevant images.

You can hover over an image in the list and it will give a popup view of the image. If you click on "Response" to the right you will see a full view of the image (image 3) when selected. You can right click on the image name and it will give you a number of options, you can select the first option "Open in New Tab".

The way I do it is to select "Open in New Tab" for each relevant image (do not think there is a way in Firefox to select all). That will display each image in a tab and you can now download the images.

In this instance I used the DownThemAll! plugin and select the "All Tabs" option, which will save all the images with one go.

Sorry for the detailed explanation but I think not everyone is familiar with these tools. Furthermore, you can actually download any item on a page in this way, i.e. movies, etc.

Just having a lot of people in your city doesn't cut it. For nude events, demographics truly are destiny, and NYC just doesn't have very "nude friendly" demographics.
