From what I have seen so far, IrishBoy, you make very good use of your time when you are in Gaswork Park. I know what its like. Girls are all around but you can't be everywhere at once. And time is relatively short although some girls do linger on a bit. But most dress quickly. That said, ones finger is constantly on the shutter button.
I get nervous just thinking about what you have to do to get a years worth of naked pics in just a half an hour or so.
And if bikers decide to throw you off and make an unusual entrance or exit, you can be left behind with a limp camera rather than an erect one

The painting party is easier. But Gaswork Park can go boom or bust for me.

Question - have you shot at any of the preride painting parties, or do you just hang around Gasworks? Because if the answer is no, you have missed another 10,000 photo ops - mostly close up..

they are sort of indoor-outdoor. I mean, nowadays (the past few years) girls mostly get painted indoors (at the old Ballard Library) but they still have to go outside to get to their bikes. After getting painted, a lot of girls mill around in the parking lot, or even walk the streets. Thats when you can shoot them. But it used to be better - the location now doesn't make for as good shooting as locations they used in past years.

With a special pass, you can photograph girls indoors. Best bet is to join the yahoo group Solcycles and also check the
cyclist's website (hxxp://www.solsticecyclist.org) for info on how to do that and also for up to date info on painting party locations.

I guess I have about 6 months to get this all figured out.....My goal would be to attend painting party and make it to gasworks before the start of parade....You think possible?

YOu only need to be able to get down to Gasworks in time to see everyone arrive there. Its possible, but a bit hectic.
I've done it many times, but time is tight. Parking is the issue when you get close to Gasworks. I've had to walk 10-15 blocks or so. In 2008, I arrived exactly at the moment the bikers arrived - I barely had time to get out my camera. So, it can be hectic. PLan ahead...or leave the painting party a little earlier (but I like to shoot the gang as they depart on their bikes)..
