Hello to all

I started my day by having breakfast made at the Firehouse and feeding the sheriffs and fire fighters, which leads me up to something

I young lady who was a friend of my one daughter in college dropped by with her father, a retired fire fighter I have met on occasion. She is in her early 20's, never married, and is cute as a button

Tables were set up in the engine bay and I was in the kitchen cooking with a few other guys. She came into the kitchen to help serve. Of course I was making my famous pancake batter ( Brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla) and "first morning" coffee ( peculated on the stove top, not drip, with an orange peel in the pot and dark rum added later for flavoring only, not to get anyone drunk) when I felt her bump into me from behind. I thought nothing of it.

Several more bumps and close brushes and I got curious what was happening. She asked me about an event that had happened several months ago when a loud mouthed kid and his three friends decided to get frisky with a very attractive woman to whom I am married and instead of getting lucky ended up meeting me head on. I made it painful. The police decided four on one was self defense on my part according to the law and again I found myself lucky.

I consider myself to be a good listener and asked her why she was interested in such a messy affair. She explained to me that she used to date one of the guys in high school. She got drunk one night and woke up no longer a virgin. In fact, they had taken pictures of each of them taking turns. She told my daughter ( who never told me) and my daughter had offered to have me take care of these kids when I got back in town, but she did not want anyone knowing. She was under the impression that this information had finally reached my ears after all of these years and I had taken it on myself to do something about it.

When I asked about all the bumping and touching, she just said that for a smart man I was pretty dumb. Light bulb time. I let he know gently that she was a very attractive woman but I could never see someone I knew when they were a teenager as anything but a friend of the family.

Later, when I spoke to my wife about this, she told me something I did not for-see. She had known, but she and my daughter did not tell me because they knew what I would want to do. I told her I would have hurt them worse at the time I had them in hand if I had known.
She said she knew that too, but again, she knew how that would have turned out. She told me she loved me enough to keep me out of jail, and besides, it wasn't a fair fight anyway. Four drunk kids verses me, her money would always be on me, no matter what.
Then she opened her shirt to reveal the first purple heart I received hanging around her neck and reminded me how I got that, and few other pieces of metal. Here I spent cooking for my heroes that morning, and I was told I would always be her hero every day.
