So if the trace fails as a 404, it is IMPOSSIBLE to know what profile it was/is from. Annoying from a finding point, but honestly its about time facebook fixed that huge flaw. TL;DR = If the picture is set to public (or you are friends with them) you can trace the picture, if it isn't there is no distinction between deleted picture and just set private (no way to know).
