I came across this oddity on the Talking Pictures channel in the UK. It is a short film called A Hole Lot of Trouble starring Arthur Lowe, Victor Maddern and Bill Maynard among a host of names in a situation that involves workmen digging a hole outside in a street. It was made in 1969 (not 1971, as erroneously claimed on IMDB), and a farily ordinary film save for the last scene, which involves newlyweds Michael Sharval Martin and Trudi Van Doorn. Trudi goes to the window after being woken by workmen again, then sees her husband dozing in bed and decides to wake him up for a spot of more honeymoon action. While doing so you get a nice glimpse of her bare bottom just before it comes up with "The End" on screen (and yes, I've slowed it down), and was so unexpected I felt I had to upload it here.

As for Trudi, this was only her 2nd screen role, having started out acting in 1968 at just 18. She came to fame in The Benny Hill Show in 1972-73, and came close to being cast as Purdy in The New Avengers in 1976 before Joanna Lumley got the part. Missing out on this seemed to lead to her decision to change her name to Geraldine Gardner, and she had notable parts on TV in Rosie (1978), Danger UXB (1979) and Chance in a Million in 1986. Sadly she died at only 36 years old just a year later in January 1987, her body found on a beach, having drowned in what is believed to of been suicide. A tragic end to a lovely looking lady.

This clip comes from the Michael Palin film The Missionary (1982) and sees Palin return from Africa, only to be given a job to minister London's prostitutes! His character is naturally naïve, and in this scene he finds himself visited by a mousy young girl (played by Valerie Whittington) who comes to him with a 'problem' - ie, she fancies him. "Most of the people I've ever been to bed with didn't care who I was," she tells him. "I'd just love to go to bed with a man who was kind and gentle just once." Not grasping her meaning, he replies "I'm glad you feel that way because that is what our mission is all about." This cheer up young Valerie no end, who promptly whips off her nightdress and gets into bed with him. And while he is trying to persuade her to get out, two more girls come along and they end up in bed with him too! Unfortunately Maggie Smith turns up the next day and when she looks into his room she finds 3 naked girls in his bed (though the only nudity is of Valerie). Although Valerie's nudity is brief, it is memorable, and I've slowed it down so you can get a proper viewing of the scene.

For Valerie Whittington, 1982 was her 1st year in acting, having made her debut in The Return of the Soldier, and this was only her 3rd role (and only nude role). With her childlike looks, she found herself noticed in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983), Ordeal By Innocence (1984), The Pickwick Papers (1985) and PD James' The Black Tower (1985). Surprisingly by the end of the decade her career had ended, with her last role in Inspector Wexford's Murder Being Once Done in 1991. Mind you, she got married in 1982 to actor Pip Donaghy when starting out in the acting game, and had 3 children, so she seemed determined to pack a lot in her career in the 80's!

As it's coming up to Christmas, I thought I'd upload this Xmas treat from 20 years ago (actually broadcast New Year's Day 2001, but part of the 2000 Xmas schedule). It's the TV comedy drama Gentlemen's Relish, which was a starring vehicle for Billy Connolly, who plays a fading painter who finds a new lease of life when given a camera to make new forms of art. However, his devious assistant (played with relish - pun intended - by Douglas Henshall) sees a chance to corner the porn industry by persuading the naïve Connolly to do 'historical re-enactment art' and then cropping out the nudes to sell to a magazine called "Gentlemen's Relish."

The summing up over, here are the ladies who had to disrobe for the drama, and in order first up are a pair of then unknown actresses Rebecca Johnson (now known as Rob Brydon's wife in The Trip TV series) and Emma Stansfield in her screen debut (before finding fame in Coronation Street in 2005). They play a couple of ladies who come to Connolly to - in Henshall's own words - "show him their bums" (and more). Then comes a photo shoot where a number of sadly unknown actresses pose for Connolly's epic photo in his studio. There is one blond actress in this scene (Pic 4) who blinks constantly and looks thoroughly nervous at having to stand and pose while her breasts are on show. Next comes Liz Ewing (as Alice) and Emily Hillier (as Ethel), who have more substantial roles in this, but unlike Johnson and Stansfield they struggled in acting afterwards. Ewing made a return to acting in TV's The Nest last year after many barren years, while Hillier last acted in 2005 and now runs her own Florist business. Then comes a scene of a Egyptian photoshoot where the actress playing Cleopatra is played by Seana Montague, who only had other roles in TV's On Home Ground (2001) and as Mary, Queen of Scots in a Elizabeth documentary from 2000. Finally there is Katie Blake, who played Henshall's wife in this, who gives the editor of Gentlemen's Relish magazine a topless photo of herself in order to shame her hubby after discovering he has been dallying with Alice. Blake herself had a decent career in the late 1990's/early 2000's after starting acting in 1997, but had surprisingly disappeared by the end of the noughties. Still, at least she showed us her naughties before she left. I'd love to include more photos, but I had to chose my snaps as they exceed the 9 pic limit! Anyway, enjoy the video. She plays (coincidentally) a model who has to pose nude for an artist in various poses and is naked throughout the entire video, while pondering throughout the ethicality of it all, with such phrases as "My humiliation is not his concern" and so on. I'd never heard of it until a few months back, and as it has never been uploaded here I thought you'd like to see it - and more of 'star talent' Rebecca!

Another video for this thread, and this comes from A Ghost Story for Christmas from 1977. The somewhat bizarre ghost story involves a mother and daughter (Kate Binchy and Maxine Gordon) moving into a remote house while workmen are trying to remove a strange rock from the lawn. Unfortunately this disturbs what is lying underneath it and the mother discovers to her horror that she is bleeding from a apparent wound in her middle and goes into the bathroom to check it out. Naturally this calls for her to peel off her clothes, though in this case only her top comes off, but you do get to see the breasts of Kate Binchy in what was her only nude scene in her career. Indeed Kate was 40 when she did this, having gone to a convent school and starting acting in 1959. The late 1970's seems to of been her peak of her career, and the following year she ended up full circle at a Convent School in the ghostly thriller Quiet As a Nun in 1978.

Sorry, burger1701. I usually check through these videos before posting. It was just the fact that it was repeated on TV in the UK for the 1st time in years, and I thought I'd upload it as I hadn't seen it before.

As it is, I have another 'oldie', this time from cinema from 1971, though it involves British actress Stephanie Beacham, who was just starting out in acting when she appeared in only her 2nd film feature The Nightcomers. It was a prequel to The Turn of the Screw and told the story of a children's governess who finds herself manipulated and controlled in a sexual relationship with gardener Marlon Brando. He enters her room and takes full control of her, despite her protestations, tying her up "like a chicken on a spit", as he tells her, before undressing and having his way with her. Later she pulls down the bedsheets to expose herself to him, waiting for what he will do next, but gets the shock of her life when instead she is faced with Thora Hird! Beecham apparently found her 1st ever nude scene embarrassing, and dreaded her parents seeing it, but Brando made sure that director Michael Winner didn't shoot anything below the sheets by wearing Y fronts and wellies to spare Beacham further embarrassment. She did do further nude scenes in the film Mafia Junction (1973), plus TV series Special Branch (1973) and Connie (1985), before finding fame in TV soap opera Dynasty from 1985-89.
