We live only 18km from the Cap so we are regular, and year-round visitors. Last year the gate barrier came down mid-March. We've just heard from one of the year-round business owners that this year it comes down on the first of March. From that date you will need a pass to get in.

Sorry folks, my post (2216) regarding the gate barrier may have been premature. My French is not good and I must have misunderstood. It would seem that it is under consideration and a positive decision has yet to be made. So it may, or not, be in operation from 1st March. I should have kept my mouth shut, and left it to Graynsam, a more reliable poster.

Thanks "Mitcham", for the vote of confidence. Our understanding is that the gate will go up about the same time as last year the 15th of March. This is supported by the Camp site accepting bookings from that date this year as well.
