Just got an email about my account being locked because someone tried to hijack it 5 times. I have a feeling I know why it happened too. I left some props at a forum and was trying to direct some possible traffic here and in doing so I said check out my work under my username here. It never even occured to me that someone would try to pull something like that. I guess because I know I never would. Lesson learned there. I would never ever give out my password and I hope that this didn't cause any problems. It will NEVER happen again, I promise.
Does anyone know how to track the IP address where it came from that OCC so kindly sent me? Not that I could do much, or want to, in the way of sending them a greeting, but I bet I would have a good chance of figuring out who it was. See what you get for trying to be a nice guy? The thought never crossed my mind that someone would try to figure out my password. I only gave my username as a form of thanks because I don't post there and I wanted to give something back. Never again. |

Okay, I figured out how to do a decent trace but I have a question. What do the last two letters in the IP stand for? For example, 198. CA Would that be California or Canada? My guess is California and I think I may have already found the jerk who did this.
Thanks Everlong |

I'm sorry someone was causing you trouble everlong057.
I'm pretty sure the "CA" stands for Canada in this case. I wouldn't worry about it too much now. Your membership was not damaged and nobody else was able to access your membership because our security settings prevent people from trying to "guess" people's passwords over and over. Thanks,

Hmmmm..I would have bet it was California. At any rate, I know you guys have my back and I wasn't that bothered by it, but if there was a way to track someone like that down I sure would like to know how to do it. Damn internet freaks. It's like the people who take the time to plant viruses in emails or Yahoo group messages, or anywhere for that matter. Bunch a damn losers.
