Default For Klondike

This probably wouldn't go far as a thread if I only stick to the theme of the first post (but I'd be happy to find I'm wrong), which is Naked Crit (short for Criterium). It differs from other rides like Fremont, WNBR, and UVM in that it a) is a race, and b) features members of the teams that by day are at a cross-country mountain-bike race. Several of the events have these, though I believe the first may have been at Mt. Snow, in Vermont. These are pretty much all the revealing ones I've found.

Default Switching gears?

...so, since we'll soon be busy dealing with the northern hemisphere '08 WNBR, I thought I'd also add some from previous ones I hadn't seen posted here. We've seen pre-parties, but the first here is from an after-party in Chicago. Next, five of the lone naked woman from last year's Belgium ride. Then three from Boulder (other good ones from here are at Brett Amole's site, but they're in slideshow format). Finally for this post, one from '05 Netherlands.

Five from Burlington (and you can find some watermarked ones at HellsCupcakes.com - and in other galleries of theirs, ones from that other sort of biker group). Then three from the fledgling Montpelier ride: they're so non-Critical-Mass that they signal their turns; bravo! Finally, two from Vancouver, one from their first wet ride in '07, then one from the rescheduled dry one, as they go through the major tourist attraction Granville Island.

Okay, we've seen Victoria, Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto: let's try the capital (Ottawa); five from there with the obligatory monument in the last shot. An earlier one from Austin, and one from Mexico, and finally three from SFfrom '04: two painting, then the group photo.

...and, with a little trepidation since I'm in Pedro's sweet spot here, Spain. To see more (but watermarked) of the ride in shots 2-4, see http://www.pacoferrer.com

Some excellent pics there and a ride I had not heard of. Thanks, Crispus!

A few things to ponder as WNBR '08 approaches. First, out in my neck of the woods (NW), the Seattle ride has been postponed until Oregon Country Fair weekend (NOT FAIR!). That puts it in mid July (maybe they want more dependable weather).

Anyway, in its place is a new ride i am excited about. It is a nightime ride in Eugene, OR, scheduled for next weekend. Eugene's first and only ride back in March attracted 100 participants - not bad at all for a first ride in a town of 150,000. And being a liberal college town, you can figure most of those riders were under 25. So next weekend, I'm guessing 100-200 will ride, and that will definately put this one on the map. Now - anyone have any tips for nighttime photography? How does one best shoot this?

Ah, yes - Eugene, OR. Home of the Oregon Country Fair and one of the countries best known bastions of progressive and alternative living. I have often wondered why there was not more nudity in Eugene considering its reputation. There are a few CO beaches on the Willamette R., but they are nothing to brag about. The campus (U of Oregon) itself does not appear to have a naked tradition which is odd considering the fact that other campuses in this state do. So maybe, just maybe - this WNBR will fill the void and really take off. All the ingredients are there - mainly hundreds and hundreds of spirited, liberated college students, and a progressive town government (although the police I am told were not too happy with the first ride back in March. that situation should improve next Saturday night).

And finally - i mentioned in the free sites section to look for jennifer Moss in the Ashland ride scheduled for June 11th (I think). It would seem an ideal event for her, although its anyone's guess as to whether she will actually show. Ashland's newest resident "exhibitionist activist" , BTW, considers Ojai, California to be too conservative!! Anyone who knowns Ojai, the new age capital of S. Cal. ought to get a laugh out of that.

So thats the news as "nake bike month" approaches.

cheers,

Klondike

Oh shit, why are they riding at night! We never did get any shots from that other night ride last month

On the WNBR in Europe, I hope to be in a town (not saying where at present) for one ride where (according to a chat page for the local university) at least 100 students are commited to the ride this year, and 60% of those commited are girls between 18 and 22 although to hope for many to ride more than topless is expecting a lot. The ride will also attract others, so a turnout of 200 is anticipated. I shall have my camera at the ready and pray for good weather! The ride will be in daylight!

All rides in the UK this year are pushing 'bare as much as you dare' rather than fully nude only, which will increase the turnout, but will allow many shy girls to wear a swimsuit. Some die hard (male) riders are not happy about the policy.

In London (June 14th) the nudity count will be much higher than the rides in the provinces, if you want to see (and photo) at least 200 fully nude women in the heart of London, that is the ride to attend, IMHO.

Here is a poster for a WNBR in Portland, but it is again at night!!! Ride sets off at midnight

On the european front, the rides set for this weekend may suffer from the dreaded weather!! At present the hopes of a balmy summers day with nude BBQ and sea-side picnics (as planned by the organisers) seem to be fading fast.
The rides will happen, what ever the weather, but rain and wind may cut down the nudity content quite a bit. Whatever shots I get will have to wait until I return next Monday or Tuesday, by that time, I guess Flikr will be full of any shots that happen. I may see a ride live, but you guys get to see the photos first!

The nighttime runs are fun to attend, and often well lit enough to have no problem seeing "everything".

They are just a b*tch to document.....

I am working on a solution (Which may cost some big bucks), but we'll see.......

Pedro - I understand your weather problem, but sometimes, rain can be worked to an advantage. Consider this: You schedule a barbecue, OK. Then the rains come. But..........if there is something like a picnic shelter or big tent nearby, you can all get cozy underneath that. That could get everyone's temperature rising...

Not warm enough yet? - cuddle up, girls.....
