So this is a non-fiction story, with pictures!

My wife and I went to Hampton Beach in NH last week. While it's technically legal to be topless in NH and on Hampton Beach, virtually no one does it. My wife and I have been talking about women's rights to be topless, especially with the big "Free the Nipple" day coming August 23rd. There will be a huge event at Hampton, with over 1,000 expected to participate. We plan on attending.

So, with that in mind, we decided to venture to the beach ahead of that event, and see what happens if she went topless on a "normal" day.

We arrived around 1:00pm to a very busy Hampton Beach. It was a beautiful day, sunny and around 80 degrees. We set up our chairs and umbrella pretty close to the center of the beach, behind the bandstand closer to the water. My wife wore basic black bottoms, but had a very sheer pink bikini top she figured she'd start with. It's actually not a bathing suit top, but a piece of lingerie that just happend to work well. It was a triangle top that was adjustable to any specific width. She started full width, quickly reduced it to only hide her nipples, and within about 20 minutes was completely topless.

We took a couple of walks, to either end of the beach. We passed by a LOT of people. Their reactions were exactly what we thought they would be. Most women stared disapprovingly, though some did nod their heads as if in silent approval. And most men were breaking their necks trying to swivel around to catch a second glimpse.

During our stay we also purchased a very see though black cover up, which she also wore for a couple of walks. It was funny watching people stare at her trying to figure out if they were actually seeing what they thought they were seeing. Towards sunset we decided to take a few photos on a couple of rocks in the water as well.

We stayed until around 8:00pm, and the whole time we were there, we literally did not see one other woman go topless. This was both exciting, and a bit dissapointing. It was exciting to see my wife be the only woman on the beach topless. She's not shy, and pretty brave if you ask me. It's also dissapointing that even though it's technically legal, it's so frowned upon around here that virtually no one else will do it. Hopefully the event on the 23rd will change that!

Both my wife and I love your wife and you for encouraging her. We've noticed as time passes fewer people are actually taking advantage of free nude beaches. Since many adult shops and strip clubs have closed it seems even us nudists are no longer interested.
In our early days we camped where we could go to secluded textile beaches and she could be topless. Back then lots of others did the same. Altho we have had people on nude beaches with a legal sign complain when my wife was nude in front of their kids. WTF?
Your wife is perfect to be nude and appears to enjoy it. Are there signs at this beach showing clothing optional and do most attending the beach know it? I'd say screw them all and enjoy yourselves.

Thanks Model-T. No, there are no signs at the beach. It's not a beach ordinance, it's that entire state of NH is officially top free. It's just that it's not common knowledge, so most assume it's illegal.

Darn, we have a friend with two places in NH. They often ask us to come up when they go in summers.
One place is just a walk to a fancy private beach the other in the mountains.
Maybe we need to go visit. He'd be shocked when my wife goes topless.
I've heard NY is a legal topless state also. But heard if people complain women can be arrested. Doesn't make sense to me.
We also know my wife has flashed in cities that don't really allow it but don't complain if the lady does not create a scene. Again sort of a cloudy situation. My wife has been seen by police there and we've seen others arrested for being topless too long.
In our lifetime we've seen laws change allowing topless women, especially nursing, but now things seem even stricter.

We're at Old Orchard Beach in Maine this week. They also have similar laws regarding toplessness, completely legal, but pretty much unknown, and frowned upon. We also have the kids with us, so probably not as much topless fun as last week. We'll see....

We're at Old Orchard Beach right now, and she was out topless earlier this morning. Virtually no one else around us was, so again, that's her confidence. Just like NH, it's technically legal to be topless in Maine, but NO ONE either knows, or cares to. Crazy...

Thursday now, I we haven't seen one other topless person up here all week (except Mrs. HedoRocks) ! A couple of women sunning topless with their stomach's down, but that's it. Crazy...

And, the Free The Nipple event weather is starting to take a downturn for Saturday as well. Looks like upper 70s and thunderstorms! Ugh...
