I had read something online that Virginia Mayo was once photographed coming out of the ocean naked, a wave having taken her swimsuit. Can anyone verify this, or provide any links/additional information/the photograph itself? She was apparently voted the "Best Undressed Woman of the Year" by a nudist group known as the Colorado Sunbathing Society (she declined), if this helps. I think this incident was in 1949.

I have always had a thing for her. She was so much prettier than anything hollywood has to offer today.

I'm afraid that this is probably just a rumor started by Warner Brothers to get some word of mouth publicity for Ms. Mayo's 1949 film "The Girl from Jones Beach" in which she is prominently displayed in a swimsuit coming out of the water at the beach. I haven't found any corroboration of the story from the photographer (who is nameless) nor from Virginia Mayo herself on the internet and something like that would probably have gotten a lot of play from the various vintage pinup sites if it existed.

This also poses the question of "how do you even lose one of those olden two piece bathing suits anyways?" Or a one-piece for that matter (any theories or stories would be nice).
