It might be a good idea to delete the dead links in the Free Sites section. Most of the posts there are no longer leading to websites.

While I can understand anyone's frustration dealing with broken or dead links, that is what to expect when relying on 3rd party websites. Those links tend to go bad pretty quickly. Our moderators will remove links to illegal or harmful content. They will also remove links that are made to paysites. It is not realistic to expect our moderators to remove dead or broken links.
The founding idea of our site was to solve this problem by hosting the material that people upload here on our own servers. Look at our Photos and Videos forums. For example, if a member uploaded a photo to One Click Chicks in 2004 it is still here and available to download 21 years later. Everything that people upload here (that doesn't violate the forum rules) will remain available to download permanently. That's why we encourage people to upload material here versus posting links in the Free Sites forums. For the same reason, we discourage people from posting links in the Photo and Video forums. |

Also, you can report the post with the dead link to help alert someone of the situation by clicking on the red triangle at the top right of the post. If you're finding a dead link, you are late to the show and everyone has left already. Just know the mods are on top of it when they see it. But don't go crazy reporting all at once because they are busy.

I just spent a ton of time going through the nudity in theatre and in the arts thread digging through old links that are now dead to find info on Internet archive. Surprisingly you can still find a lot of them elsewhere once you find the title and artist and can do some advanced googling. This would NOT be possible if those posts were deleted instead! I urge you to please not consider deleting posts with dead links as they still provide extremely useful information.
The internet is becoming full of dead links already. Let's not accelerate this demise by removing even the references to those links! |
