query about fiction- building / pacing stories
Wondering what folks on here that use FF, AO3 etc prefer reading:
1/ one shot stories- straight into the 'action' as it were. 2/ slow burn, build up over a couple of chapters. 3/ One scene per chapter, with a 'reveal' at the end of each? 4/ random cutaways to action / twist at the end.

Writing style really changes the answer though. Read some great stuff that had a long build, and some great stuff that was over in three paragraphs.
