To get us started, these two images are from the stage version of the musical Best Foot Forward (1941), in which a lovelorn prep-school student sends an invite to the school prom to a movie star known more for her pin-ups than her acting. As a publicity stunt, her agent accepts and she shows up, scandalizing the school and causing the boy to dump his real date, who gets even by (literally) exposing the actress!!

(The movie version of this musical starred Lucille Ball as the actress who, thanks to the Hays Code, only got stripped down to her slip...unfortunately, I was unable to find an image of that scene from the film, doggonnit!!)
