I also use Aver for transferring VHS to my PC. I bought AVerTV DVB-T digital TV card, but it records onto my PC with MPEG2. Its a pain to edit, so i encode it with divx5.1.1 for edting.
I think vitualdub will do the trick for you.
I'll have a word with a friend of mine who gave me my copy, and maybe i'll be able to send you a copy of mine.
