a few tips:
be careful of other shoppers
be careful of anyone else with your target .. lone targets were "safer"
be careful of store security cameras
i used to put the mirror face up at the bottom of the basket, and have something lose in my hand read to drop on the mirror if I was "caught".
in the line to the register... i used to crouch so that i was closer to the mirror (and therefore closer to the subject in the mirror) to get a better view.
