Reducing file resolution is bad practice, I think. Screens don't get smaller over time, but bigger instead.
In the end we will end up with stampsize pictures on large screens, So I always try to find and post the highest resolution there is.
Lately we see lots of pictures made bigger by some software. This is not a solution, you'll always luse lots of detail.
And besides that, blown up pictures don't look good (you cann't enlarge detail where there is no detail in a small pic, you only enlarge JPEG imperfections).
