Most people used the free Camtasia plugin to record webcams years ago. I haven't had a need for this in many years. The plugin might no longer be free. The Camtasia software is a paid product. Camtasia was always a resource hog in my opinion. But once you learned how to use it - it would record anything you were watching. Made it easy to record Firetalk then later Paltalk video feeds.

You could try using the open source VLC media player. If you can stream your source or play the external source within that product it can be recorded with the touch of a button.
