Default Nude Beach Beer

Anyone had this beer?

The label has been banned in some areas.

You can buy it on draft but don't expect to see Stevens Point Brewery's Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat beer in a bottle anytime soon in Michigan.

The label, which features a nude-beach scene with a cleverly placed beach towel and other summer-themed toys has been deemed "detrimental to the health, safety, or welfare of the general public" by Michigan's Liquor Control Commission.

After debuting last year, Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat quickly became the Stevens Point Brewery's most successful new-product introduction ever, according to Joe Martino, Stevens Point Brewery Managing Partner.

Stevens Point Brewery has doubled Nude Beach production for this summer and expanded the beer into Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri. They have also added a new 12-pack bottle package to meet consumer demand.

Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat is brewed with two varieties of wheat - 'au naturel,' an unmalted white wheat and malted red wheat, plus specialty barley malts, fresh hops from Washington State's Yakima Valley and the Stevens Point Brewery's special ale yeast.

Aside form attracting lots of attention, it also earned a silver medal in the Beverage Testing Institute's 2008 World Beer Championships.

"Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat is a refreshing, thirst-quenching ale perfect for the beach or any other summer activity that calls for a cold beer. What you wear - or don't wear - when you enjoy Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat is up to you," Martino said in a press release.
