Thanks for your interest. Back in February Emma started dating a bloke who had just been transfered to her branch. He seemed very nice and was much younger than her - 20 against her 27. They were getting on fine, he was spending alot of time at her house and as a result even my wife didn't see her nearly so often, though they often spoke on the phone. Emma seemed very happy with life again at last.
Then about two weeks ago they were having a quiet drink in a pub well away from the ones she used to drink in with her 'friends' when who should walk in but the girl who had got married and a few of her friends. Emma hoped they wouldn't notice her but to her dismay she was soon spotted and joined by the group of drunken girls.

According to Emma, the comments went something like this.....
'So this is the mystery man you've been hiding from us....'
'Still in school is he - into cradle sn*tching now are we'
'Bet she's stripped in public a few times for you'
'No? - well she's done it for everyone else!'

Of course her boyfriend wanted to hear the whole story and, despite her best attempts to persuade him to leave, her 'friends' had great delight in telling him the whole embelished tale, while she died quietly in the corner.
He didn't say much about it that night but two days later he finished with her, telling her she wasn't the person he thought she was and that he couldn't keep seeing someone who was quite so free with her favours. When she tried to tell him much of the tale was made up he said to her:
'So you didn't strip naked in public twice then?'
She had to admit she had, he called her a sl*t, then left.

Even worse for Emma is the fact he still works with her and everyone knows they have split up and wonders why. Emma is pretty sure he has told quite a few people at work by the way people she has always been friendly with are avoiding eye contact with her and she is sure eveyone is talking about her behind her back. The result has been her self confidence has gone and she feels pretty worthless. There have been a few tearful visits to my wife and last week a plea to me, while my wife had left the room, to help her be the sl*t eveyone thinks she is. I'm sorry to say I couldn't resist and we arranged to speak the next day.

I thought by the next day she would have changed her mind, but no, we spoke on the phone, I made my suggestion and she agreed to book a day off from work the following day.
