Mary Phillips, 60's nudist model
Mary Phillips was a South Florida housewife in the 50’s who tried a weekend of social nudism with her husband Bob, on a lark. They liked it and most weekends thereafter were spent in the altogether at Tropical Gardens. One day the camp owner approached them, saying that Ed Lange a famous nudist photographer, wanted some real nudists to photograph enjoying their day in the sun.
Mary’s pride and willingness to be photographed in full display made for some of the most iconic images of the 1960s’ Florida nudist scene. She became one of the faces for the Spartans Club, appearing in a number of nudist magazines of the 60’s.
