I'm sure the Jewish members on here will correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought the term 'JEW' referred to a member of the Judaic religion. Hence anyone can become a Jew by joining the religion. As to race, their ancester Abraham came from the ancient city of UR in Sumeria. So all the people of those regions, Mesopotamians (Iraq), Persians (Iran), Palestinians, Arabs, Egyptians, Turks & Greeks are all Semitic. So the term Jewish race is a misnomer. There are also large numbers of people that returned to Israel from the former Soviet Union, which would cover different racial groupings.
