Facebook images can now be as big as 2048 pixels at the image's largest side, compared to the 720-pixel Facebook standard.

I assume most non-tech-savvy people just upload the full camera resolution images, so this means all their photos will be bigger. Also wondering whether they have been storing larger photos of what was already out there (like all the photos in this thread) and if they will increase their size.
