I'm not sure where the poll thread is that you referred to, but Wetmac's idea should work fine, or another option you may want to consider is splitting them. If you go to:
http://www.doeasier.org/splitter/ you can download a trial version of Easy Video Splitter (can't remember how long it goes for) and start splitting all the files you want to. I've used a few splitters, and find this one to be quite "Easy" to use.
You can also get a trial version of their joiner as well:

These are only suggestions, do what you feel works best for you.
