sorry top hear about your hard drive failure. It happened to me a while back aswell. There are some recovery programs that you can use, to retrieve lost data on a hard drive. If you need any link's for programs, just let me know.
I now always back up my stuff onto DVD disc's. You dont have to use DVD disc for making movies, you can actually save jpg's and mpegs and avis as data files, infact you can backup anything you want. Just a thought that may help you out in the future.
