Familiarity breeds contempt. You've been a woman for what, 35 years? Obviously it is not a big deal to you

Some men like to pretend to be women on online forums, mostly to troll others. Those that have fallen for it, or witnessed others falling for it, usually become suspicious and are quick to accuse.
There are other reasons as well, and sometimes pretending is done inadvertently. For example, a friend of mine played on a MUD and chose the name "Sasha", which is a common shortening of "Alexander" in Russian. He could not understand why everybody (the men and especially the women) were so nice to him until he figured out that, to an English speaker, "Sasha" sounds like a girl's name.

No, usually it doesn't. Being stronger (on the average) is handy and not having to deal with periods is a definite plus. Also, going topless is acceptable.

Actually it does. Women
are incredible. The greatest invention since opposable thumbs.

Oh, they can believe that, but when the woman in question posts nude pictures of herself on a male-dominated forum, some find it too good to be true.

Some really do (from what I've been told, having gender issues is not fun). Some think that the grass is greener on the other side. Most are just curious -- I believe that given the opportunity to spend a couple of days as a woman, most men would want to do that.

Many different reasons.

It happens. I've met women that claimed they had to do just that in order to (a) be taken seriously and (b) stop the constant lame come-ons.
