He apparently started suffering from schizophrenia-like symptoms and killed himself in jail.

I remember when he made big news. There was a picture of him sitting naked in a desk in class with a bunch of people around him.

It is interesting to see some states without public nudity laws because where I live, it has been outlawed forever. Technically, it is legal for a child age 9 years or under to go naked at the beach. But none ever do. The last time I saw that was when I was probably about 8 years old and then it was a toddler.

I wouldn't mind nudity at the beach or in designated park areas, but I don't want to see guys with their balls hanging out walking down the street.
The fact that the city of Berkeley had to adopt anti-nudity laws because of him shows you how stupid, self-centered and counter productive was his whole operation. If you are going to be a pioneer, you have to use your head because this scenario has been played out many times. Lax nudity laws can be easily reversed in a matter of weeks. This is also why Oregon may end up being less tolerant of nudity in a few years if Earth Friend Gen continues to prance around naked all over the state. One person can wreak a hell of a lot of damage...

I really don't think that naked anywhere, anytime is ever going to be a realistic goal for the body freedom advocates. Set your sights lower, because if you adopt that attitude, many people are going to begin to feel legitimately threatened - they will be scared to leave the house with their kids, they will be scared to go to the store, etc, etc. I support nudity in public parks within designated zones, and limited nudity in the streets (generally associated with an event). Also, the pioneers that get naked to test the laws are OK, as long as they don't threaten to stay naked day after day after day...

Anyway, Martinez was not a BF advocate, just a kook and more like an exhibitionist streaker.
