actually, Osreb, when you created your anything goes nudist thread and said you would post pics there instead of in other threads if you thought they might be reposts, that was a compromise and a pretty good one.
As for getting along, I think we all get along here better than in most forums. I have seen forums where the repost police can get really ugly.
OCC is not ONLY for original material, but if you think about it, what exactly is the value of reposted material other than it is more accessable to newcomers when posted in current threads. But a duplicate really has no other intrinsic value if it occurs in the same physical location as its twin. I suppose to a newbie, a really great pic from the past is a lot more likeable than a lot of the new stuff i post, since to him it is ALL new. And if that keeps him coming back for more, there is going to be value in that. But, keep in mind that quality as well as quantity counts, in reposts and new pics alike. Also, reposts that were only posted for the first time days ago don't share this advantage that I mentioned. Recently, I dredged up my nus mais justes pics from a few years back because I knew they were REALLY old and buried deep inside the archives. But reposting something posted just the other day 3 pages back in a current thread is not creating a huge advantage to someone accessibility-wise. Either pic is about equally accessible.
I apologize to others for taking up time and space here for this, and the other day I thought a related rant should have been carried out by pm. So if I have more to say to Osreb, I will pm him. Osreb, your thanks total tell me you are valuable to OCC, and my only issue really has to do with in which threads you choose to post, as some are more geared towards original pics than others. Threads on narrow topics can peter out quickly, and although reposts can keep it bumped, too many will cause people to lose interest altogether. I'd rather let the thread fall back in the pack a little until more original pics surface. In part thats because it is disappointing (and time consuming) to see a favorite old thread bumped, open it up, and then find out the latest post only contains pics that have been heavily reposted elsewhere.
thanks,
Klondike
