It's like; na na na na-na; I posted them first.
Ownership is not the issue. The issue is the time and effort put into finding that original material. There is a certain amount of skill and knowledge that goes into doing that, somewhat like the effort put into the creation of an original image. If someone then comes a long and just copies that image, what you have then is just a lot of copies, but very little increase in VALUE. OCC membership is very diverse, and it should be a place where newbies can come and appreciate what you post, but also a place for us oldtimers who may not have a lot of time on their hands to go directly to the original material without having to wade through reposts. The trick is in how you accomodate both, and I think the solution is to respect everyone and their desires, and pick your threads accordingly.

I really don't care if the pics are repost; if I like them I post them.
That gets back to the respect thing and is sort of the crux of the issue. Thats because simply not caring about reposts given the sheer volume of pics that you post borders on irresponsible when you consider server space, others time and interests, etc. It is particularly an issue with threads on narrow topics where you frequently recycle pics posted just days earlier. If you like them - great. If YOU want to see them again, great. But if you want OTHERS to see them again, think twice, because why would I want to see copies of something posted two days ago that I can easily duplicate or view at any time on my hard drive? I don't download or keep lots of copies of pics. I generally only have one of each, no matter how much I may like it. And when I go to imagefap and view galleries with a lot of duplicated images, i feel the same way as when I browse threads here with the same problem. I feel a little cheated, like when you open a christmas present and its all packing material or something.

You know, Osreb, you must have seen gazillions of pics by now, and I drool thinking about stuff you may have come across in your travels that I will never see. So it is just perplexing to me that you don't seem to retain much of it in your memory, or know how to separate the real nuggets from the "has beens" (used to be's, etc ) Or, if perhaps you just don't care, which seems just as likely, let me just reiterate one more time - others here do!

thanks - KLondike
