Klondike: knowing your demonstrable penchant for orderly threads, I cannot but anticipate being chided for the following; nonetheless, I'm constrained to post these hitherto unremarked attributes of "the Russian way of life," beyond the 90's-oughts hippie ethos you posited at the outset. I can only plead that all these were ones I found, generally at Russian sites, while pursuing the accepted thread guidelines, and throw myself upon your honor's mercy.
First, a disregard for that johnny-come-lately innovation, the Gregorian calendar: note the date on this Xmas photo
Next, the ineluctable hotness of models at their car shows, as pennywiseguy2 and I noted elsewhere
Then, the fascination with chilliness, even absent a banya's offsetting warmth
Penultimately, a willingness to pose au naturel even in the grottiest of apartment-block hallways
Lastly, whatever can be up with those wall-hung rugs?
