I hate Realplayer too. I'd suggest going to the following link:

This is a link for the "Real Alternative" which enables you to play real player files in the classic windows media player (which is included in the download - this is not the Media Player 9 or 10 but rather something like 6.4). You can keep both players on your system and default the "real alternative" to open real player files.
Give it a try; I love it.
