i dont know if you got me right, my english is not that good.
you dont need software for the screencap.
on my german inscribed keyboard i use the key "druck" (i guess in english it will be "print"),
it makes a shot of the full screen, then i cut out the vid window. this only works on rm and mov files.
other players use (i believe its called) overlay modus which causes a black window in the screenshot.
probably i told you what you already knew, but i wasnt sure, sorry
