ok, it may not be important to rectify this statement
but in defense of the real "german bbc" it ought to be said that rtl is a commercial company that doesnt get money from the german state. ard and zdf could be compared to
the bbc. germans who own a tv pay a duty to finance the so called "öffentlich rechtliche" (public and legal)
broadcasting companies ard and zdf. the ard is divided into a larger number of local broadcasting companies.
all this is 1 characteristic of our federal system of division of powers in germany....
