The romans were always trying to think up ways to jack up attendance too (at Coliseum events), but as far as i know, they never resorted to naked women. They would just kill a lot more of people. Anyway, thanks for this as i always want to know the story behind these events. I'm not sure of my geography, but its even possible that the home team has a real ancient Roman coliseum in their town. Doubt you could play modern soccer in it, but boy - wouldn't playing in that add some realism to a Roman coliseum themed event?
