We very rarely combine threads, and we would never combine two (or more) threads started by different members, even if they were on the same subject. Combining threads usually happens when one member makes a bunch of different threads at once in one section with only a couple pics in them, so that section doesn't get cluttered up. But like I said, this rarely happens.
